Imo, they only look good if you keep your hair in a TWA. The problem with texturizers is that they only look good if they&#39;re evenly processed. So many factors affect the process (length of time left on, condition of hair, etc) that its almost impossible to keep the process even. In addition, it&#39;s next to impossible to prevent the chemical from ovelapping when you get a touchup, because unlike a complete relaxer, you don&#39;t have the strong distinction between straight hair and kinky/curly hair. That line of overlap will become overprocessed. It contains a lot of mineral oil, which is more sealing than moisturizing. Perhaps you should apply your leave in, and then massage in the buttercreme, oil, gel, or whatever styler you choose. To keep your curls from drying out, every morning, you can just saturate your hair wih water, shake, and go. That way, you dont even have to reapply product or cowash again. If your dont like to wear a scarf, or if it slips off like mine does at night, try a satin bonnet (prefferable the ones that you can tie rather than the ones with the elastic band)or a satin pillow case. Cotton = death to hair. Also, I suggest you try MahagonyCurls&#39; method, fom youtube, when you do your wash n gos. Look her up! I wish I had the confidence to BC! <br /><br />I had a texturizer (ORS) in March, just before I started to transition, and yes, it loosened out the curls, but they became uneven (some curls straightened out and the rest just looked wiry). My personal experience of texturizers is that they made my hair fall and any new growth felt hard. Admittedly, I did alternate between relaxers and texturizers because I felt they did the same thing to my hair... :( <br /><br />My advice would be to research other naturals with similar texture / porosity before making a decision. Also, I read some of your other post and I read about you thinking you&#39;re hair isn&#39;t growing. I big chopped on June 7, 2009 and was left with LESS than 1/2 in of hair. It&#39;s now September, and my hair is just now an 1in-1 1/2 inches all over. Now, I really felt like my hair wasn&#39;t growing and others who big chopped at my time have more growth. Buttt, my hair is SO much thicker. I mean, it&#39;s really filling in. Everyone I&#39;ve talked to says that after the 3rd month your hair really starts to take off. Hey, today makes 14 weeks for me by the way. I just thought of that lol. But, I have noticed my hair really thickening up. So, hopefully by the 4th month we will both start to see more noticeable progress. You&#39;ve inspired my inner chemist...I think I might give the monistat another go! Mixing it in a bag and cutting a whole out of the bottom is genius! I never thought of that; that&#39;s part of the reason why I just applied it straight up—I had no containers to put a monstat mix in. I&#39;ll be very interested to see how your hair turns out. I think you&#39;re in a perfect position because you have a TWA; if your hair really does start to grow faster, it&#39;ll be really obvious.
